EMBO is looking for an Assistant Data Editor to join the EMBO Press and SourceData teams to support data quality assurance and data curation at The EMBO Journal, EMBO reports, Molecular Systems Biology and EMBO Molecular Medicine. This exciting new role will be key to ensure the quality, integrity and utility of the data published in the four EMBO Press publications.
EMBO Press plays a leading role in scientific publishing by providing a forum for important research results and by implementing policies and processes that improve the transparency and reproducibility of published research.
sourcedata.embo.orgSourceData is as an open platform built by EMBO to make research data and papers discoverable based on the experiments shown in published figures.
Key tasks of the Assistant Data Editor include the following:
This position will occasionally require duty travel and working outside of the normal working hours, in the evenings and/or during the weekend.
The ideal candidate for this challenging role has a PhD in molecular cell biology or in computational and systems biology with a broad general knowledge in life sciences. For this position, candidates must demonstrate an exceptional attention to detail, an outstanding sense of scientific rigor and the ability to quickly spot visual and textual mistakes or inconsistencies. Knowledge in data management, quantitative sciences or statistics and prior experience in publishing would be an advantage.
